What I learnt from a rebrand of my own business

It’s brutal truth time.

Anyone who has followed me over the last 4 years since I started my business (yes hello you dozen people! ?) has heard me talk about wanting to rebrand, focus on my business, represent myself in the way that I represent my clients… You know professionally and all that!

But you know what, work gets in the way, family gets in the way… LIFE gets in the way, and marketing, well that gets pushed further and further down the list. Even for a marketer!

I was so stuck in a rut about what my business was and where it should be that I realised that to move forward I needed a shake-up. My logo (although exactly what I wanted to begin with) was not representative of what I was doing, and in terms of marketing became completely uninspiring to me! So, I decided to rebrand. To use a new look and feel to inspire me to redefine my business and my passion for marketing it.

The Rebrand…

OMG, what an amazing experience this has been! Firstly I got to work with one of the most creatively talented people on the planet that I know… Mark from Stonefern Design. Mark is an old friend of mine, and I am incredibly lucky to have snuck my way into his schedule and to have his skills at my disposal. I’ll admit that I would usually endorse local businesses, but he’s an honorary Aussie having spent many years down under, and he is just also too good to not engage if you have the opportunity. An absolute legend.

Secondly, not only was it a visual rebrand, but I stopped and looked at my business for the first time in 4 years since I launched and really saw what it was that I was trying to be. Instead of the “just start the business and hope for the best strategy”, I had previously engaged, I stopped and said, “If I started my business today, what would I want it to look like? Who would my client be? What would my strategy be?”

And WOW! How the ideas did flow!

By working through my preliminary business strategy and presenting to Stone Fern, they then produced a logo that pinged every creative bone in my body! And who knew I liked that much colour?!

The Result

I’m your one stop shop. I don’t specialise but instead work holistically on your business marketing and promotional requirements. I take all the aspects of marketing and apply what works best for your business, budget, timeframe and resource. I focus on SME’s (Small to Medium Enterprises) because more often than not they just want that one person who they trust with their brand to get their message out there effectively and using all appropriate platforms.

I’m not corporate and stuffy, I’m relaxed and personable. I work with your needs, not what I think your needs are. We meet over coffee or in your space so we can relax and get to know each other and our respective businesses.

Did I get all this from a logo… pretty much! We find inspiration is all areas of life and this one was my epiphany.

I can’t wait to expand it more and share my experience with you further. In the meantime, if you think you need some inspiration or a fresh set of ears to listen to your business, you know where I am.

‘Till next time, Jodie
